Databases

The following databases are licensed under a state-wide agreement and are available for use from home using your Western Australian public library membership card number.

Tumble Books Library

Introduce young children to the joys of reading with this delightful collection of animated, talking picture books. This subscription service has been provided through Better Beginnings supporting families in sharing a love of reading.

EBSCO Databases (Contact Library staff for logon and password)

  • Consumer Health Complete - includes Health encyclopedias & reference books, Health reports and pamphlets, access to health magazines and drug & herb information
     
  • Literary Reference Center - information on thousands of authors and their works including biographies, plot summaries and overviews, literary criticism, reference books, magazines and journals, book reviews, poems, short stories, classic books and author interviews. It also includes Literary/historical timeline, citation tool and literary glossary
     
  • Auto Repair Reference Center - contains information on most major manufacturers including vintage makes from 1945 to the present, step-by-step photographs, technical service bulletins, wiring diagrams, specifications, interactive learning package with video and animated technical diagrams, quick tips, complete guide to vehicle ownership & maintenance
     
  • Business Source Elite - Full-text coverage for nearly 1,100 business periodicals some titles available back to 1985. Titles range from general magazines to trade publications and top management journals
     
  • NoveList - Readers' advisory service helps to find fiction titles by using books enjoyed and topics of interest. Over 130,000 fiction titles for all ages, can be searched by title, author, subject or by simply describing a book they you would like to read. Also articles describing popular author's style, series information, popularity index and book reviews.

  • Encyclopaedia Britannica


    Great for homework and school assignments.
    Access is via the State Library. Just choose Encyclopaedia Britannica from centre of the page and when asked enter the barcode on your membership card.

  • Health and Wellness Resource Centre


    Find information on different illnesses, conditions, diseases, medications and alternative health remedies.
    Just enter your library barcode for access.
    The Health & Wellness Resource Centre provides patrons with comprehensive, reliable and up-to-date medical resources. It features the ability to search a broad collection of reference titles, full text articles from reference and periodical literature, pamphlets and news. The subject areas include information on a disease or condition, diet, alternative health solutions, fitness and weight loss.
